Ten minutes, not four hours

“The water point is ten minutes from my door. My daughters go to school in the mornings now.”

Amina used to leave home at five every morning with two jerrycans. The walk to the river bed took two hours each way. Since the water point opened in her village in March, she uses the time to run a small kiosk.

Her daughters, 11 and 13, are back in school. The village committee she sits on collects a small fee from every household to pay the mechanic.
